Fabiola Bastian Mojica, 38, who had been living in Stamford, pleaded guilty in Hartford federal court to one count of reentry of a removed alien. It is her third conviction for illegally entering the country.
In May 2003, Bastian Mojica, while a legal resident of the country, was convicted in Stamford of possession of a hallucinogen, leading to her lawful permanent residence status to be revoked. In November that year, she was deported to Mexico.
Two years later, in October 2005, Bastian Mojica was arrested by police in Greenwich and convicted of evading responsibility resulting in an injury or property damage and possession of marijuana. She was also charged and convicted of reentry of a removed alien. In January 2008, she was again deported to Mexico.
Bastian Mojica was arrested again in July 2008 in Stamford and removed back to her home country.
Her latest arrest came on Oct. 23 last year, when she was busted by officers from the Stamford Police Department for a motor vehicle violation and later failed to show up for court proceedings. On March 7, Bastian Mojica’s identity was confirmed by investigators through fingerprint analysis and she was arrested on the illegal reentry charge. She’s been detained since her arrest.
Bastian Mojica is scheduled to be sentenced on July 17, when she will face up to 10 years in prison.
